Coroner: Casey Johnson's death was due to diabetes
Monday, 01 March 2010 16:46

The Los Angeles County coroner has reported that Casey Johnson, who was heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune and had type 1 diabetes, died from diabetic ketoacidosis.

Ketoacidosis is a potentially life-threatening condition where the blood’s acidity is increased to dangerous levels due to a lack of insulin.

Although a psychiatrist had visited Casey the week before and had ‘concluded she was not suicidal’, it appears that at some point after that she had stopped taking insulin, which led to her death.

Casey had previously been hospitalised due to not taking her insulin.
