Diabetes brings many 'special moments' into my life, moments that are a special part of having diabetes. The one on my mind at the moment - for no particular reason - is the following:

Don't you hate it when... you dutifully check your blood sugar in the morning, and when you put on your freshly ironed work shirt you can't help but notice all the fresh blood stains. o.O

Am I alone in this or do other people have diabetes related 'special moments'?

I hate it when you prick your finger for a blood glucose test, then don't get enough blood out.

I really hate it when I give my finger an extra bit of a squeeze to get some more blood out and out of my finger comes a spray of little beads of blood. It's like a surgery scene from M*A*S*H. (Oops showing my age there!)

don't you hate it when... you turn up at your friend's house & he's looking at you funny, but you can't tell whether he's just letting his lazy eye wander or he's having a hypo.... until he says "i'm just having a hypo" - that tends to give the game away.


... and i thought he was just scoffing the jelly beans surreptitiously so he wouldn't have to share them with his daughters :D
