I'm sure this happens to everyone, so I'm hoping there are some great ideas out there on how to (painlessly) deal with those little black spots on our fingers.

You know, the ones that we get from testing our blood glucose levels so often (yeah right!) ;D

Or do you just leave them there? I'm thinking I might even be better off letting my fingers callous up so it doesn't hurt as much when I test.

I have a similar situation with my fingers - over time I think I've come to prefer using just a few fingers with the result they are now a bit spotty :)

I've used a pumice stone to take off the callouses and dots before, which makes them nice an smooth but has the side effect of making them more sensitive to pain :P

:P I've also kept it to a few select fingers and they are, indeed, quite spotty. I use a pumice stone too. Or just live with it, depending on my mood.

I have found the same problem. Good to know I am not the only one.

I have done some digging on the web, and found the following information and links on another Diabetes forum.

Hope this helps.

http://loraldiabetes.blogspot.com/2006/10/painless-pricks.html

gave me the insight which made my pricking painless and without any trauma or spotting.
That and 30 gauge B&D lancets, http://tinyurl.com/22j6qu
which are thinner than most.

Regards,
Farlight.
